How to Pay on Amazon with PayPal: The Easy, Secure Workaround

Can you pay on Amazon with PayPal? Not directly. Amazon doesn't list PayPal as a payment option at its checkout, so if you've searched for it and come up empty, that's why. But it doesn't mean your PayPal balance is off-limits. There's a simple, secure workaround: buy an Amazon gift card with PayPal, then redeem the code on your Amazon account.
At dundle, an authorised prepaid reseller that has been selling digital codes since 2012, you can buy an Amazon gift card with PayPal and 36 other payment methods. Your code is delivered by email within seconds and you don’t need an account to transact. Pick your region:
United Kingdom: Amazon gift card for the UK
United States: Amazon gift card for the US
Canada: Amazon gift card for Canada
Australia: Amazon gift card for Australia
This guide explains why Amazon and PayPal don't connect directly, how the gift card bridge works, and why it's a smart way to make prepaid online payments without sharing your bank details.
Does Amazon Accept PayPal?
The short answer is no. Amazon runs its own payment ecosystem and doesn't accept PayPal directly on its checkout page in most regions. There's no toggle to flip and no hidden setting — the option simply isn't there.
The good news is that there's a reliable bridge: an Amazon gift card. Because Amazon accepts its own gift cards as payment, you can buy one using PayPal from a trusted reseller and apply the code to your Amazon balance. In effect, PayPal pays for the gift card, and the gift card pays for your order. The end result is exactly what you wanted — you shop on Amazon and the money comes from your PayPal balance — just with one quick extra step.
Want the exact purchase and redemption steps, including choosing the right country and applying your code? You can find those on the dundle Amazon gift card page, which walks you through the whole flow.
Why Pay with PayPal on Amazon?
Beyond simply unlocking your balance, there are practical reasons shoppers prefer this route:
Keep your bank details private: you pay online without linking a bank account or credit card to Amazon. PayPal keeps that information on its side, so your financial details stay private.
Full control over your budget: a prepaid gift card has a fixed value, so you spend only what you load. It's an easy way to keep online spending in check.
Fast, familiar checkout: you pay with your existing PayPal login — no re-entering card numbers — and your code arrives by email in seconds.
Extra reassurance on the underlying purchase: gift cards are a stored-value item, so PayPal's own Buyer Protection does not cover the gift card purchase itself — PayPal's terms exclude "payments that are equivalent to cash, including stored value items such as gift cards and pre-paid cards." (Source: PayPal's Purchase Protection Program) Your safeguards here are the reseller's own guest checkout, instant email delivery, and secure-site practices covered below — not PayPal Buyer Protection.
Available for multiple countries: buy the region-correct card for the US, UK, Canada, Australia and more — just match it to the recipient's local Amazon store, since gift cards are region-specific.
Pay with a PayPal Balance You Can't Otherwise Spend on Amazon
This workaround is especially handy when you already have money sitting in PayPal, for example from selling something, a refund, or funds a friend sent you, and want to put it towards an Amazon purchase. Amazon won't take that balance directly, but converting it into an Amazon gift card unlocks it in a couple of minutes.
It's also a neat way to send Amazon credit to someone in another country: pay with your familiar PayPal account, and the recipient gets a code they can redeem on their local Amazon store. For anyone who values financial privacy or simply prefers secure online payments that don't expose their card, it's a practical everyday solution.
US Shoppers: The PayPal Debit Mastercard® Option
If you're in the United States, there's one more route worth knowing about. The PayPal Debit Mastercard® is a debit card linked to your PayPal balance, and you can add it to your Amazon account like any other debit card, the PayPal website explains. That lets you spend your PayPal money on Amazon without buying a gift card first.
For everyone outside the US — or anyone who prefers not to apply for a debit card — the gift card method remains the simplest, fastest way to pay on Amazon with PayPal, with no credit check and nothing extra to sign up for.
How to Buy Amazon Gift Cards with PayPal Safely
Because you're paying with PayPal and receiving a code, it pays to buy from a trustworthy source. A few things to look for when you do:
Authorised, reputable resellers: stick to established sellers with a long track record and consistent customer reviews, rather than unknown marketplaces.
A secure connection: check that the site's URL starts with https:// and (in many cases) shows a padlock in the address bar before you enter any details.
Instant email delivery: your code should arrive right after payment. If a seller can't promise prompt delivery, choose another.
The correct region: Amazon gift cards are region-locked, so always select the country that matches the Amazon account where the code will be redeemed.
Tip: Only ever enter your PayPal login on PayPal's own secure page, and never share your gift card code with anyone who contacts you outside the normal checkout process. Legitimate sellers will never ask you to hand over a code.
