New Video Game Releases for PlayStation in January 2022
Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Extraction

Weird West
What happens when you put together fiery gunslingers and bloodthirsty magical creatures in an alternate Wild West story? You get Weird West. The former creators of the amazing Dishonored and Prey games came out with this action RPG simulator, where your choices determine the unique outcome of this reimagined dark fantasy. The developers changed the point of view of their previous games from first-person to bird-eye, and you can play not one but with five atypical heroes in the single-player mode. You can utilize almost every game element - grab, drop, use, hide, throw the pieces, and see how the simulation reacts. The vast map of Weird West is full of mysteries and places to discover. And you decide whether you go rogue and take on the adventure solo, or form a team and stick to the main storyline.

New Video Game Releases for PC in January
God of War (PC)
When God of War's epic teaser trailer dropped, the world was shaken. It was a long-awaited moment in gaming history because it shifted the game’s well-known player perspective from a bird’s-eye view to a third-person view. Also, because the Kratos we knew has also changed. He relocated to a land far away from the Greek Gods and stepped into the territory of Norse mythology. Now, acting as a single father and mentor to his son Atreus, he faces his dark past and searches for his family's future. The game became an instant hit, and is now up for grabs for PC gamers to finally step into the heavy shoes of God of War.
The PC version includes all the awesome weaponry of the console games, like the signature ax of the new series and the elaborate level-up system of Kratos’ abilities. Additionally, this glorious game will run on higher frame rates than the previous generation of consoles, which is a must for hardcore PC gamers these days. If you felt left out of the console-exclusive God of War series, now it's time to let your rage out on your PC with Kratos and his son.

Hometopia
If you read this and have had a PC since childhood, you have probably played The Sims back in the day. You know, the life simulator game, where you had control of the simulated lives of your created characters - taking the game of life to another level. Since then, the franchise has had many sequels and copycats that try to give back the same gameplay mechanics. Hometopia is another iteration of the cult classic, but the developers completely removed the "human" part of the original and stuck to the home building aspect and decorating. In this game, you can build, decorate and renovate beautiful 3D houses to please the in-game AI standards or your online friends. Your challenges include renovating old houses and impressing the game with cool design and exterior ideas. It's a house-building simulator for grown-ups or house decor enthusiasts. So if you spent more time in Sims building and decorating, you're probably gonna love this one.

New Video Game Releases for Nintendo Switch in January
The first Pokémon RPG series for the Nintendo DS console was Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, and it was the 4th generation of Pokémon games. Pokémon Legends: Arceus goes back to the Sinnoh region seen in the old Diamond and Pearl games, but in a time before Pokémon Trainers existed. In this spin-off, you go on an open-world adventure to examine and collect the pocket monsters in the region, and when necessary, fight with other pokémon who halt your mission. As you can see, the core elements are still the same, but it has a glorious and lovable new 3D environment and graphics, which you can expect from any Nintendo Switch game. If you are a fan of the series and would love to explore the lore a little deeper, then get out there and try to catch 'em all!

Astroneer
Procedurally generated game worlds are noting new for avid gamers. One of the most well-known examples is No Man's Sky, a space exploration game with unlimited possibilities. You spawn into a unique universe, which can only be seen and explored by you. What you come across will be totally random, as the software uses an algorithm to generate the world around you. There was no gameplay like it for the Nintendo Switch players until now, and Astroneer brings it to your portable screen. This galactic exploration game is based in the 25th century, where astronauts explore, conquer and survive in far unknown places. You can terraform and discover new worlds with up to 4 online players in these procedurally generated universes. Build your own base, roam the surface with cool vehicles, and conquer the universe with your buddies. As for the graphics, it's all in a beautiful, Nintendo-style as you would expect. 2022 is Going to Be An Amazing Year for Video Gaming
While it's still easier to win the lottery than getting a PlayStation 5, we do hope next year will be easier to get your hands on one. There's so much to look for in next-gen gaming as seen in the announcements of The Game Awards 2021. There will be a new Star Wars game from the legendary Quantic Dream (Detroit: Become Human), called Star Wars Eclipse; there’s also the sequel Hellblade 2 and Sonic is coming back full speed in an open-world game. Even Matrix seems to be making a return with an action game as well. If this list of incoming games doesn’t get you excited, we don’t know what will! See you in 2022!
